ok so sunday evening amy g. came up to me and asked if i was ready or excited to get shots the following afternoon...too bad that initially i was thinking shots of alcohol...not immunizations...and apparently everyone else was thinking that too. anyhoo i have a feeling that is one of those stories you just had to be there for it to actually be funny so i'm going to move on.
so i picked amy up on monday late as i often am but still with plenty of time to get to independence (where the jackson county health department is). we got there close to 3pm which is when our APPOINTMENT was. and well yeah ill let the first video explain things for me:
-
Shots for Africa, Installment 1 from Amy G on Vimeo.
this is what happened when we were finally allowed back to get the shots:
Shots for Africa, Installment 2 from Amy G on Vimeo.
this is not for the weak/faint of heart...cause this one is of me "being a man":
Shots for Africa, Installment 3 from Amy G on Vimeo.
thats my story and im stickin to it!
lessons learned:
-no matter how hard i try i will always be late getting to the doctor
-just because its an APPOINTMENT doesn't mean that you will be seen anywhere close to the time they tell you
-when estimating time...yeah don't count on me at all or if you do add at least half an hour to an hour onto whatever i say
-amy and i put together actually have a good directional sense about us...separately...not so good
-i have a higher pain tolerance than jon shirley :D

21 days
in three weeks...ill be on a plane to washington DC...or at this current time i actally may be killing a part of the 6 hour delay we will have there but nonetheless my adventure will have started. :D
i know ive said this to a couple people but i felt the need to share...i really feel like God has been increasing my heart for the community and people of Zeway. i feel like the grinch at the end of the story where his heart grows so much it makes the metal borders around it burst...THAT is how i feel right now...just when i think i cant possible feel more compassion/love/joy/hope for this nation...God blows me away with more, and im not even there yet!!!! i know this is going to be one of if not the most memorable trips in my life. i could not feel more blessed today...LOVE IT!

time to celebrate!!!! :)
guess who's raised all $2800 of her money?!
ITS ME!!!!
ITS ME!!!!
so if you had been planning on sending in a check but still have yet to actually do that you have three options...
#1-you can send the check to me to help cover extraneous expenses like shots, malaria pills, dr. visits, passport fees etc.
#2-you can send the check to heartland and instead of putting hemi/ethiopia/wentworth you can replace my name with either amy g's, caren collins, or dave & holly stetler (all of whom still need help raising the last bit of support)
#3-you can send the check to heartland with my name on it and it will just get added to the hemi pot for future trips and things
if you have any questions please email me or let me know at u2mrmoo@sbcglobal.net
oh and by the way i have 23 days left! whoo!
